Married over 10 years to my wife Christy. We have five wonderful children: Rebekah, Rachel, Jeremiah, Elizabeth, and Hannah

How did you come to know Christ?
I grew up in a Christian family knowing the importance of God and Jesus. I went to a mainline denomination church every Sunday. I probably asked Jesus into my heart 100 times growing up. But it was not until a youth group came to our church and shared what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus that I finally got it. That Saturday Night, I asked Jesus into my life and I felt a huge weight come off my shoulders. I truly surrendered my life to Christ that night. Then I went off to college and got involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and was discipled through small groups and by being in a community of believers.

Favorite Verse:
I have two:

1 Samuel 16:7
The Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Ephesians 2:8-10
“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is a gift from God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

If you were stranded on a deserted island, which three books (besides the Bible) would you want with you?
My obvious choice would be a book on how to build a boat. Other popular choices would be: “Loving God” by Chuck Colson, “The Holiness of God” by R.C. Sproul and “Good to Great” by Jim Collins

Which Biblical character (apart from Christ) has impacted your life most?
David (a leader, a man after God’s heart, and God still used him even though he failed several times) and Nehemiah (a man of leadership, prayer, and vision)

What are you currently learning in your journey with God?
I am learning what it means to be dependent upon God in all circumstances.

What is your favorite movie?
My all time favorite would have to be “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

What is your favorite dessert?
I love all types of pies and my wife’s no bake brownies.

What do you enjoy most about Chapel of the Cross?
I love the music, teaching, and relationships with many great people. Plus, I don’t have to wear a tie.

Anything else you would like to tell us about yourself?
I am a sports junkie. I love playing and following football, basketball, volleyball, and baseball. My favorite pro team: Green Bay Packers and college team: Wisconsin Badgers. I love to play cards, board games, watch movies, read, and go camping. I even went skydiving.
